Attachment style
In the original Toy Story movie, a relationship forms between Bo Peep and Woody. But, in Toy Story 3 Woody reveals that he and Bo had to end their relationship shortly because Bo was thrown out, along with a few other toys from Andy's collection. Attachment styles from our childhood predict how we will respond to relationships in the future. From this, it is clear that Woody has a secure attachment style. According to the secure attachment style, " Secure individuals are comfortable both alone and in relationships."(9) Even though it is obvious that Woody misses his sweet Bo Peep, it is also clear that Woody has not delayed his life, nor does he fear being alone. Woody continued with his life and did not jump into any relationships just to combat loneliness.
Excitation Transfer
In Toy Story 3, Buzz saves Jessie when she is almost killed in a garbage truck. This is a perfect way to get Jessie to fall for him. According to Zillman's excitation transfer, "People mistake the cause of their emotional arousal. This is especially likely to happen when people experience arousal in response to two different sources in close proximity to each other."(8) When Jessie's heart is pounding after escaping death, she might find herself falling for Buzz because she might attribute some of her emotional arousal to Buzz's presence and might also be more attracted to him than she initially was.
